An Eventful Year For The Futureheads |
 |
| 12 Dec, 2006 |
So 2006 is coming to a close, and it's been an eventful year for The Futureheads. We've got the slower, more reflective second album out of our system, and we've been on the road, as with previous years, an awful lot.
We've had some unforgettable moments this year - all the more special for the fantastic support and devotion we've seen from you lot - our loving fans. I've heard stories from you about hours traveled and lengths you've gone to to get to see us play, and it really is one of the driving forces that keeps us out on the road - the thought that there are people prepared to travel miles/hours to see our shows. Thank you.
Next year we will mainly be focusing on getting our third record together - the bureaucratic mess that led to our leaving 679 Recording has done nothing but make us more hungry and driven toward writing our best record yet. There have been some interesting options opened up to us with regard new record labels, so we can all rest assured that we will be finalizing our label situation sometime in the new year.
We have a boatload of new songs to get recording, so I guess our live shows will be on the back-burner slightly for the first 3 or 4 months of 2007 while we get it together in the studio.
In the meantime, I have set up a record-label of my own, not in order to release The Futureheads, but as a platform for some brilliant young bands who I feel (along with my colleagues in this, Paul Reed and Nick Jackson) need to be heard by a wider crowd. Longest Mile Records will issue its first release, Catweasels' ‘This Is Just The Night Time, Andy' on January 29th - it will be available at your local independent record shop, or online at http://www.longestmilerecords.com/
Thanks again to everyone who's followed the band this year, bought ‘News & Tributes', or traveled miles to say their hello's. I'll be keeping you posted on the website with our recording progress, and obviously if we do manage to slip any live shows in, then you'll be the first to know.
You never know, if Jaff ever gets it together with all of his gadgets, there may even be a bit of webcam action when we get in the studio!
Have a great Christmas everybody - I'll be in touch in the New Year - I hope 2007 is a great year for all of us.
Cheers,
Ross X |
