Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver |
 |
| 15 Jun, 2006 |
The Commodore Ballroom is on one of the craziest streets I've ever experienced. We've played here a few times before, so we're well aware of the back alley that the venue leads out into. And it's nickname to locals? ‘Crack Alley', of course. Winner.
Not that the front street is much safer - Jaff and I end up doing a taped interview out there, and during it, we get accosted by a bald bloke who's clearly had backstreet skull-surgery - he seems to offer his services to us as a drummer - Yeah mate, join us for soundcheck. Doubtful.
The gig, incidentally, is spot on - I couldn't believe the crowd. It seems that nobody cares less that we haven't been here for a year. Especially memorable for our guitar tech, Neill Lambert, diving into the crowd in a one-man vigilante bid to deter the ‘surfers'.
Hilarious. |
