The Futureheads / 679. The Official Statement
23 Nov, 2006
The Futureheads are no longer signed 679 / Warner Music as of October this year. The agreement was reached amicably after many open discussions involving their future with the label.
679 singed The Futureheads in 2003 and released their eponymous, quarter of a million selling debut album in 2004. News & Tributes followed in May this year and the band have spent large amounts of time on the road in America as well as playing at many European festivals since it's release.
Of the departure, singer Barry Hyde said
‘Recently we have parted company with our label here in the UK and most, but not all, of the world. We are pleased with what has happened. This means that we can now do our next album with refreshed enthusiasm, we're not worried about the situation and we are not even going to consider splitting up. This year has been really challenging for us, we've faced some heavy shit but we are through it now. It's a shame, but some things have to come to an end and we'll get over it'
The band have been writing and recording in their hometown Sunderland in recent weeks are all very excited about what 2007 may have in store.
US Tour Cancelled!
30 Sep, 2006
The upcoming Futurehead's Tour to the US has been cancelled. The reason for this is the development of Tendonitis in Barry's left wrist. He has been advised to rest his wrist and it may take a few weeks to heal.
The Tour would have run from the 4th to the 28th of October, incorporating 17 concerts.
New UK Tour Dates
29 Sep, 2006
The Futureheads have just announced their next bout of UK tour dates. They will be playing in Newcastle, Portsmouth and London, Falmouth and Preston and more places! The tour will be right before Christmas running from 8th November to the 20th of December.
Time to get excited. The Futureheads will this weekend be headlining an intimate gig at The Sage, Gateshead as part of the fund-raising music and comedy event "3 BandStand". Sponsored by mobile network 3, this exclusive performance will raise more funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.
"How do I get tickets?" we hear you ask. Well, all tickets for the gig will be available via a text lottery, giving fans the opportunity to donate to the cause and to be in with a chance of getting a pair of tickets to the show. Texts costs £2 each and all proceeds will go to Teenage Cancer Trust, which is planning to build a state-of-the-art unit at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
To enter the text lottery to be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets you have to text '3Bandstand {SPACE] your name' to 86633. So, for example, Dave would text '3Bandstand David Hyde'. 150 winners chosen at random will each receive a pair of tickets to the show.
The closing date for this is tomorrow (September 14th) so don't delay!
The lucky ticket winners will be notified via text by Friday September 15th and will be sent an entrance code via text. You will need to keep this message for when you turn up at the Sage on saturday night. The show starts at 8pm so be there nice and early to allow time to exchange your text code for physical tickets.
Good luck
